Both! Support is available for all ages - from young childhood and school years to early adulthood and beyond. We are with you and your family through the chapters in your life.
Comprehensive communication assessments are offered to all clients. Every client is unique, so the therapy is tailored to your individual strengths, needs and goals.
We can support children and young adults with a range of communication skills including:
At Chapters, we do not offer therapy for stuttering (fluency) or voice concerns. If difficulties are identified in these areas during your assessment, we will assist you with a referral to a more suitable service.
You are the expert on your child!
If you're unsure, and have some questions about your child or communication development in general, we offer one-off parent coaching consults. This includes an intake questionnaire and a parent meeting to discuss your child, provide education about communication skills development, and teach strategies for you to assist your child throughout their daily life.
If you are worried about your child's communication skills, we recommend a comprehensive assessment to assist you in understanding their strengths and needs.
For some children with a few therapy goals, 1 or more blocks of 10-12x weekly sessions may be enough to meet their goals. We also offer school holiday packages for intensive sessions (multiple sessions per week).
For others who have more complex needs, and multiple areas for support alongside a multi-disciplinary team: regular appointments with a collaborative approach, and a review of goals and progress throughout the year, is more suitable.
We will work with you to develop a therapy plan that suits your child, your family's capacity, and communication goals.
Therapy works better together and we encourage family involvement in sessions or session recaps.
For the safety of clients and the provider, an adult caregiver must be present for:
Chapters understands that accessing services without funding support can be a challenge for families.
To improve our community's access to support, we offer a lower-cost option guided by the Medicare rebate model. A discount at the Medicare rebate rate ($60.35), for up to 5 sessions, is available for any client not receiving NDIS or Medicare funded assistance for their speech pathology service needs.
We also offer budget friendly options such as parent coaching consultations and individualised home programs.
Speak with your GP about whether a Medicare allied health care plan is suitable for you. For information regarding private health rebates, discuss your cover with your private health fund.
Eligibility for NDIS is based on many factors. There are a number of different eligibility pathways that require information about lifelong disability or impairment, confirmed medical diagnoses and functional limitations. We can provide information for your application by completing a communication assessment and written summary.
